[GCC 7.2 BUILD] Optimized TP-Link Archer C7 V2 AC1750 LEDE Firmware

Are you looking for Archer C7(EU)_V2_170803?

http://uk.tp-link.com/download/Archer-C7_V2.html#Firmware
or:
http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/Archer-C7_V2.html

Some sites have some models missing (V3/V4)... I don't get it.

hi,

Yes, is a same firmware, but with different numbers on the US and UK sites,

Thaks for fast reply

I would like to make a FW for C7 v2 as it is for C7 V4, I say with more graphical interface, I ask because I do not think the hardware difference between them is so difficult.

sorry the question off topic

does the original firmware have an ssh server and package manager? can you mount extra usb storage on the original firmware and build a new system image?

whats the process of building an image with gcc 7.2 and python with gcc 7.2?

Please open a separate thread about this and don't hijack this one with questions not directly related to this firmware. Thank you.

I'm just curious how to compile a kernel correctly so I can make changes to
it,how is that hijacking

It's a general question not related to this build better asked in https://forum.openwrt.org/c/devel

Doesn’t the build download the same repository? This build has an issue
with python not using gcc7.2

what are the steps to get this firmware installed on a TP-Link Archer C7 V2 already running LEDE Reboot 17.01.1 r3316-7eb58cf109 without loosing all my configs?
Can I do a sys-upgrade or do I have to re-install the default firmware first then install this custom firmware?

anxious to see if this will enhance my overall networking speeds given I have so many devices running off of it !

thanks

Yeah, you can just flash the sysupgrade.bin preserving your configuration. I'm not 100% certain that this will work and you should at least manually update the files found at https://github.com/infinitnet/lede-ar71xx-optimized-archer-c7-v2/tree/master/files/etc but just give it a shot and flash the stock firmware preserving settings again if you run into any issues.

I find it safer to backup the entire directory structure under /upper
That will ensure you save all changed files in all directories, not just /etc/config

still wish there was a better tutorial on developing your own binary.

Just installed using the sysupgrade bin and everything was installed/configured without any issues! I was able to maintain my previous configs! The first thing I've noticed so far is LUCI appears to be running faster! haha
Now I need to perform other tests to see how much of an overall change this has done for my busy home network!

thanks for all your hard work on this!

Just wanted to say thank you! Huge improvements over DD-WRT/OpenWRT firmwares I tried earlier this year before going back to stock firmware due to stability and performance issues, which simply lacked too much, feature-wise.

have you seen any 4.14 cross compilations yet?

Flashed this build and I'm experiencing high buffer bloat vs latest LEDE stable release - is there some configuration setting I'm missing?

Also lower wireless signal quality (2.4) so I reverted to the stable release 17.01.4

ath10 issues wifi AC not working as expected after latest stable upgrade.

It takes forever to get the wifi AC online and lots of my computers are not able to connect to it anymore, before upgrade it was working fine.

I see this is kernel log do not know if it is of interest.

UPDATE:

Upgraded to latest nightly seems problem, only the AP is showing up now still not able to connect to 5G wifi AC with several different clients.

Same message appear in log but still do not know if that is related to issue.

Found some old post that these messages are ok, but still i have issues connecting to the 5G network, clients saying can't connect to that network before upgrade it was all working fine, leave me with the question where can i find older build to reflash?

Hi @ArmandH
I solved the 5GHz problem manually selecting a channel (in my case was 149), not all channels works and sometimes after selecting a channel you can't bring the radio up, even if you select a channel that worked before (restarting the router solves this).

Seems that LEDE builds based on 4.9 kernel are affected by this.
