Xiaomi WiFi Router 3G

Yesterday the package wasn't there. Thx!

At last I can confirm!

My troubles with reboots on mt76_rx_poll_complete went away, probably after commit ca5cc9a to "mt76" driver (added to openwrt in a18d88e) by @nbd. My previous joy was somewhat premature, when after disabling my old AP, Xiaomi managed to stay up over 24 hours. But right after that it went back to its old habit of rebooting every couple of hours and even minutes.

Currently I'm using official "r6719-a656ea0" snapshot, with uptime over 9 days which is still going up! :slight_smile:

BTW. Is there an easier (than downloading, unsquashfsing and looking into /etc/banner) way to determine which is the latest commit included in particular official snapshot on https://downloads.lede-project.org/snapshots/?

You can check the hash of the commit in use on the master branch Makefile in here: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=blob;f=package/kernel/mt76/Makefile;hb=HEAD

You can also check the commit history to see when changes were made: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=history;f=package/kernel/mt76/Makefile;hb=HEAD

"Please verify your local data. Piece ##### is corrupt"

Transmission is showing this error. Download finishes and after a while this error always appears, in any torrent file. I continue download, he finishes, but the error appears again.

Update to latest snapshot. My patch should fix it. https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/commit/79126770868995faa8656f6687a88d385802e34b

What's the latest version? I'm in r6764-d168c2c.

Current is "r6788-7ff31be", yours is based on commits from April 26 and the fix from @neheb was commited on 27.

Hello!

After flashing a newly bought R3G using the instructions in the opening post (used the latest build "r6788-7ff31be" available in the downloads section), I am facing a bootloop. Here is the log from the serial:

Do I need to revert to stock to reflash OpenWrt? The wiki has a link for a "kernel0.bin", but it is broken. Does the "kernel0.bin" from the downloads section work for this recovery process?

Failsave mode of openwrt should work.
While system is booting (led flashes) press reset button until led flashes faster...
From here you can flash new firmware with cosole...

Your error is a bit crazy... Did you flased wrong kernel image or modified device tree?

I'm updated to r6788 and samba36-server package isn't in the server again.
Always happens in new snapshots?

Link for Kernel0.bin does not seem to be broken, but somehow it does open correctly using Chrome on Android, but fails on Chrome for Windows. This is the link I get redirected to: https://mega.nz/#!PI0VUKhA!OVoBm8rj6m9mMrpKfRDPzXEldGN8VzG8lLpjoMU9s3A

Edit: Link seems to be totally different when accessing the website through chrome on Android compared to chrome on desktop. Also when emulating Pixel 2 device in Developer tools, it still shows the incorrect link, anyone else seeing this???

just flashed Apr 30 snapshot to fresh 3G router. But no SSH access. Entering failsafe mode, making soft/hard reset, do a sysupgrade - not helping, still no ssh access. May be some problem with Apr 30 snapshots? etc too small - no init.d, no rc.d folders:

root@(none):/overlay/upper/etc# ls
board.json ethers hosts passwd shadow uci-defaults
config fw_env.config inittab profile shells urandom.seed
dropbear group opkg rc.local sysctl.conf
root@(none):/overlay/upper/etc#

Bootlogs would be helpful.
What do you mean with hard- or softreset?
What images had you flashed to which partitions?

Having also some weird issues upgrading. I build my images always the same. Just wanted to upgrade today from a656ea0bdb to todays commit. Luci Gui always says, image not compatible with platform. Already wanted to force it with SSH and sysupgrade command but after your post I maybe wait a couple days.

Some additional info: Compiling with -O3 and -Os makes no difference. Clean build and build with packages (ddns, netdata, htop, wavemon, nano) no difference. Starting with a fresh git pull (folder) no difference. Always the same "wrong platform" error.

Latest change to ramips platform was on 25.04.
Could be related to luci... Try upgrade with sysupgrade over shh.

Well that was easy. Sysupgrade -v just worked fine. No error message whatsoever. Thanks for the advice and lets see if the next update can be done with Luci...

It was a luci upload issue. https://github.com/openwrt/luci/issues/1754. Next upgrade will be fine.

Where are bootlogs in failsafe mode? This is only one way, I can access the device.

I've installed as instructed:
scp openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-kernel1.bin and openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-rootfs0.bin to /tmp
run: mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-kernel1.bin kernel1
run: mtd write openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-rootfs0.bin rootfs0
run: nvram set flag_try_sys1_failed=1
run: nvram commit
run: reboot

in failsafemode I've tried:

  • umount /overlay && firstboot && reboot (soft reset)
  • umount /overlay && jffs2reset && reboot (hard reset)
  • sysupgrade -v openwrt-ramips-mt7621-mir3g-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar

the device booted, blinked, showed steady blue light, ping OK, but no ssh/luci access.

As etc directory is so tiny I decided to copy all /etc directory from other router (same model) to that one. And viola - ssh now worked! Next I've installed luci and starting to configure new router.

This command outputs the kernel log buffer:
$ dmesg

Hi all,

If I reall correctly, the previous "3" model of that router locks you out from writing to serial after first boot on bootloader level. Is this still true for this 3G model? Just asking because then I wouldn't bother soldering on pins for serial access right at the beginning.

Thanks!
