Make a squashfs partition larger on a virtualbox virtual machine

HI

I have got a squashfs image fully installed on a vitualbox virtual machine with the full partitions sizes of 16mb and 256mb.

I have also resized the virtual hard disk to 10gb so i would like to expand the data partition to use the remaing 9gb+ of space.

I have not tried the ext4 version of the img yet because I just wanted to finsih my instructions for using the squasfs.

I am a bit of a newbie at linux, but I have written these instructions for the whole process,

Gparted

gparted will not allow me to alter/resize the 256mb partition and show the partition as corrupt or not formated.

any pointers or help would be appreciated.

Gparted won't allow a partition to be altered if it is mounted.
